About Us: |
|
Dancewear House was opened in Farmingdale in 1981 by Jim and Carol Stevens. The mission was to serve fitness enthusiasts and dancers. Carol Glockler bought the business in 1989 and moved the store to its Hallowell home in 1990. Over its 17 years at 128 Water Street, Dancewear House has grown and developed alongside dancers all across the state of Maine. One of those dancers, Melanie E. Randall, now owns the store. With her mother, Mary Elisabeth Randall, right by her side, they aim to deliver the same quality service that Dancewear House has provided for over 25 years.
Melanie E Randall, owner, is a 22 year old graduate of University of Maine at Augusta and a former student of Kennebec Dance Centre, Bossov Ballet Theatre and Portland Ballet Company. During her 18 years of dancing in Northern, Central, and Southern Maine she entered the doors of Dancewear House many times. After graduating in the spring of 2006 from UMA, Melanie worked at Linda Gifford Law Office – Central Maine Title Company and became interested in owning her own business.
Carol Glockler, former owner, had announced her intent to retire from Dancewear House after 17 years and Melanie decided this would be a perfect opportunity. For Melanie and Carol it was a match made in dance heaven. Melanie loves dancing and believes it is a wonderful gift for all those who have the opportunity to enjoy it. She hopes to make the dreams that came true for her as a little girl come true for other little girls who dream of being a dancer.
